RE: Anybody use NAPA oil filters for Cummins?

For gas NAPA is the best and are used on alot of HP engines--they are suppose to filter better then most----Have used NAPA Gold on my HP Mopar with no issues---most of NAPA's stuff is either equal or better then stock according to mechanics I know

RE: Brakes are locked

There would be a lot more of it on pavement vs ice for either accelerating the MH or breaking the brakes loose. Back up a little. What good does all the traction in the world do if the tires don't turn because the brakes are locked? His problem isn't traction, tire to ground, it is too much traction (friction) between the brake shoes and drums. My point exactly, if the wheels aint turnin then it dont matter what he is on-- like I said it could be ice-- but if the brakes dont let the wheels turn then it dont matter--

RE: Brakes are locked

I would call a wrecker and try to winch the MH to pavement where the traction would break the shoes loose Now let's think about this---traction--to have traction the wheels have to turn so it dont matter if he is on sheer ice, if the wheels dont turn he dont need traction--now once the wheels break loose and spin then ok we need traction to go.----I think you got a little more then rust going on there---it's time for a mechcanic to take a look see----by some of these post it is an argument for class 3 license, at least the air brake part. No air no go.

RE: Dry Weight of a trailer?

If you look inside your cabinets, the one over the sink usually but not always, you will find the dry weight of the TT as it was shipped from the factory-that sticker is for your TT only--that does include the AC and propane tanks--like I said that is it's weight as it was weighed at the factory after it was built ---ask your dealer---the weights in the brochures are average because of so many options. The only difference would be if the dealer ,although rare, would have added something to the TT.--there usually isn't anything to add unless you request them to change something----The hitch weight has nothing to do with the dry weight of the TT, it is only how much of that weight is resting on your trucks hitch. That can change too depending on where your water tank is and if you travel with it full and also how you load your TT. My water tank is in the very rear and if I fill it, it tows terrible cause it takes alot of weight off the hitch.---the dry weight does matter--it is your starting point---If your truck is rated at 8500lbs and you find a dry weight TT at 6000lbs even with your stuff you should be within range--then you check the other factors to verify

RE: Cabbage recipes???

Take a whole head of cabbage and cut the heart out----sprinkle in lots of your favorite spices--I like cajun spice and use lots of it then take a stick of margarine and shove it in the hole where the heart was and then sprinkle on more spice and then wrap well in tin foil.----cook on the grill or in oven at 400 degrees till feels squishy usually bout and hour or so--depends on how tight the cabbage is---put it in a cake pan if in oven in case tin foil leaks

RE: Avoid Front Royal, VA!

Alot of these new shopping centers the owner of the center makes the parking lots so thin that they do not want any more heavy traffic then necessary--the one in Altoona Pa did not want to let city buses drop people off at WM's door--they wanted to have passengers dropped off out by the hwy and it was a good 3 football fields walk--WM did some negotiating and got that changed. So yes it is up to the shopping center owner if you are allowed to park there

RE: pie irons questions

Aluminum will melt too easy, if you have kids that will be using them they will get melted since they wont watch them and will put them in the hottest coals--the set I had lasted one night and melted ---get the cast iron and find one that the 2 halves do not come apart, they are easiest to handle--it is hard to find a good quality mountain pie maker

RE: Holy crow,, Guy fistfights shark to save beloved dog!!

I think he was trolling and the dog was bait.:B----Sorry my dog would have been bait too, sharks, alligators and bears your on your own. Oh yeah and snakes too---I'm a 300 lb sissy when it comes to those critters and am proud of it, and I will be proud sissy long after that dude gets eaten by a shark. But give me a 44 mag. and that's a totally different story, now we even the field and that's a dead shark now, and if I can find any of his buddies they are dead too.--Till I run out of ammo.

I thought that on all dollies the deck pivoted when turning--it helps the dolly track right behind the tow vehicle and not drag the tires

RE: Car dollies

Dollys are not as big a hassle as some let on---dont matter what you hook up in the rain your gonna get wet---I always stored a 8x8 piece of heavy rubber mat or a piece of canvas so I could get down on my knees since I'm not as limber as I used to be---after a couple of times I could hook mine up probably just as quick as doing a 4 down, maybe faster if you include the time they have to get out their brake system and set it up too, they forget that is part of it too---dont get where folks make out it is so hard--they dont sway--they both tow exactly the same---you cant back up with either---the dolly my vehicle didnt chalk up any miles on the odometer--I didnt have to let the toad idle so the brakes work----but if you find one with brakes for $900 grab it right away--most are $1200 or better---the only problem I found was some of the small newer cars are too low and will rub loading--I had a Civic that was so I took and bought 2x12 treated board and cut a piece to fit on the deck where the tires go and another piece for under the ramps---when not in use I bunge corded it to the dolly--just be sure to get it centered and the buckles on the inside of the fenders---I towed my Civic all over the country with no problems at all---you can get a used dolly for the cost of just the brake system for 4 down--and then be able to use it for different cars ---not that big of a deal to store either--mine I just slide the tongue up under my coach and that way i just rolled it back and hooked it up ready to go---on 4 down if you do change vehicles then you got to buy new mounting plates and they aint cheap and then have them put on cause some vehicles it is a pita to get them on even it they do say they just bolt on---but hey that was my opinion and I loved mine--never had a desire to go out and get a 4-down since I could not see a great advantage
